My Days in France: Strasbourg

During holiday we used to go to our grandparent’s house in a small village in Bangladesh . In my aunt’s room ,there were big posters of beautiful houses with flowers in the windows and wooden porches and boats on the lakes right beside them …it looked so surreal to me and I used to imagine how it might feel to live in these kind of places. God has been so kind to me, recently I had this opportunity to visit one of those fairy tale towns that you can only see in posters. Close to the border of Germany and France the city of Strasbourg is a small , little French town with it’s unique qualities. A small and very peaceful town but more than enough restaurants ,cafes and hangout spots to keep you entertained.I’m listing my favorite things to do while in Strasbourg:

Boat Tour in the Canal:

The best way to get an overview of the town is to take a boat tour as the city is encircled by canals and river Ill. It’s 13 EUR per person for 70 minutes with an audio guide in different languages to explain the historical background of each attraction while you pass them on your way.

Visit the Cathedral:

The cathedral in Strasbourg is famous for being the tallest building of the world for nearly 200 years until 1874. You’re going to be awestruck for sure after seeing the jaw- dropping architecture of this cathedral . On a clear day you can see the bird’s eye view of this old town including some parts of Germany .

Explore Petit -France:

Petit-France is a historical and most beautiful part of the town. Narrow cobblestone streets and canal side half -timbered houses with flower baskets in the windows makes it one of the most picturesque town on earth. Now a days you can actually stay in these places if you book in advance or there are restaurants where you can dine alongside the river.

In winter the whole city lights up in Christmas spirit and arrange a huge Christmas market and people from around the world come to see this winter wonderland. If you want to feel like getting lost in a magical painting , you must visit Strasbourg at least once in your lifetime. I know I can’t wait to go back!
